ODSG TARGETS ZERO HIV/AIDS PREVALENCE RATE


The target of the present administration in Ondo State is to achieve zero level in the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the state held in Akure, the state capital.

Adeyanju affirmed that to this end, the state government will continue to implement programs and policies aimed at achieving zero level in the prevalence rate of the scourge through continued sensitization of the people about the scourge.

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has again reiterated its resolve to rid the medical profession in the state of all forms of quackery.

The state chairman of the monitoring team, Dr Ola Obaado gave the assurance when he led his team for an oversight visit to some hospitals in Owo Local Governement Area of the state.

The Hospitals visited include General Hospital, St Louis Catholic Hospital, Joladek Clinic and Orji Memorial Hospital.

During the visit, the monitoring team interacted with the hospital management on challenges affecting them and need for compliance with regulations and ethics of the profession with regards to qualified manpower, exposure  of Doctor to regulate training and conducive environment.

Dr. Obaado said the council is always ready to help the hospital partner the Government for all round efficiency.

He however stressed that the council will not hesitate to deal decisively with any hospital which violates the profession’s operation at qualities in its bid to get rid of quackery in the system.

Responding, the Medical Director of General Hospital Owo, Rashe Ibitola, the Chief Matron of St. Louis Catholic Hospital, Rev. Sis. Catherine Adeyegan and the medical director of Joladek Clinic, Dr Adeagbo Alimed who thanked the council for the visit, however appealed for more support from the Government.
The monitoring team also took time to scrutinize the credentials of doctors of the hospitals, inspected the facilities on ground as well as made suggestions and recommendation on how to improve on their service.

Finding question from reporters, the leader of the monitoring team, Dr. Ola Obaado said the team was satisfied with its findings. He however called on people of the community to always furnish the council with relevant information on quack doctors or unregistered hospitals in the area.

COMMISSIONER TASKS HEALTH WORKERS ON PRODUCTIVITY


Workers at the Ondo state Ministry of Health have been admonished to put in their best in the new year to enable government fulfill its goal of proving qualitative and exceptional healthcare services for the people in the state.

The commissioner for health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju threw this challenge at the new year prayer session and meeting organized by the ministry to commit the days ahead into God’s hands.

MRS. MIMIKO SHOWERS GIFTS AND CASH ITEMS ON NEW YEAR BABIES


Wife of the Ondo state Governor, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko has assured mothers and children in the state of more programmes and policies that would make them live good health at all times.

Mrs Mimiko represented by the wife of Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs Nireti Akinsuyi gave this assurance while presenting gifts to the New Year babies at the State Specialist Hospital Akure.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju and the Wife of Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olatubora, the Governor’s wife stressed that the health sector has been fully equipped towards ensuring healthy living of the people, particularly mothers and children.

While rejoicing with the first baby of the year at about 12.01am and weighing 3.5kg to the family of Mrs Veronica Adedeji, Mrs Mimiko prayed that God will help fulfil her destiny and gave the baby gift items and cash.

Plans are underway to overhaul the curriculum of the Ondo State College of Health Technology to make the institution abreast of modern day challenges in the sector.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju made this known at the maiden orientation/registration ceremony of 2011 medical technicians’ graduates of the college.

According to the Commissioner, government is working on the institution curricular to enable students get the best and update knowledge needed to thrive in their profession.
