ODSG TARGETS ZERO HIV/AIDS PREVALENCE RATE


The target of the present administration in Ondo State is to achieve zero level in the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the state held in Akure, the state capital.

Adeyanju affirmed that to this end, the state government will continue to implement programs and policies aimed at achieving zero level in the prevalence rate of the scourge through continued sensitization of the people about the scourge.

The Commissioner lauded the partnership of the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria (IHVN) with the state government in the efforts at fighting the scourge stressing that IHVN is the third body partnering with the state government in the fight against
HIV/AIDS.

Adeyanju urged individuals not to take the recent pronouncements of new discoveries of the cure for HIV/AIDS as an opportunity to relax as such discoveries is not proven yet.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Director, Disease Control in the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr Ayodele Adelusi also restated that the target of the present administration in the state is to achieve zero level in HIV/AIDS prevalence rate.

Adelusi urged individuals to ensure that they ascertain their HIV/AIDS status. In his address, the Project Manager of the Ondo State Agency for the Control of Aids (ODSACA), Dr Dayo Adegbulu enjoined stakeholders to always work in line with the laid down plans in order achieve an effective fight against HIV/AIDS in the state.

Adegbulu expressed delight with the recent new discoveries in the efforts to cure HIV/AIDS.
In his goodwill message, the Managing Director of the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria (IHVR), Mr Olalekan Mensa noted that the present administration in Ondo State is adopting a holistic approach in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state.

Mensa affirmed that the institute will partner with the state government in the implementation of programmes relating to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
He lauded the full attention of all the stakeholders at the meeting.
