MATERNAL DEATH: ODSG SEEKS PUBLIC, PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP


For adequate capturing of maternal death in Ondo state, there is a need for private-public partnership in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju made the assertion during the sensitization of private health care workers on the need for reporting of maternal deaths held in Akure. Adeyanju said it is necessary to incorporate private health care providers to be able to have accurate data of maternal death in the state
.

“For data into maternal death in the state to be accurate and correct, there is the need to collaborate with private healthcare providers, ”he stated.

The commissioner posited that there is need to sensitive the private sector as government cannot do it alone. He said it is the collective responsibility of all and sundry to reduce maternal death in the state. 

 The commissioner added that the state government is looking forward to working together with the private health care givers to be able to have a mutual benefit and subsequently best goals. While commending government’s health programmes, the private health care providers led by Dr. Ade Tade urged government to provide more logistics and financial incentives to private hospitals in the state to enable them extend government’s good health programmes to the people.

Also, the Chairman of the confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths in Ondo State (CEMDOS) and Chief Medical Director of Mother and Child Hospital, Akure, Dr. Lawal Oyeneyi lectured the gathering.
