MIMIKO INAUGURATES NEW MOTHER & CHILD HOSPITAL TODAY

THE Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, will today inaugurate a new Mother and Child hospital outside the state capital, as he consolidates on the gains of his Abiye safe motherhood programme, which has been benchmarked for the African continent as a sure strategy to  reduce maternal and new born deaths.

The new hospital, which is located in Ondo town, is sequel to the success of the Mother and Child hospital in Akure. The state government has replicated same in Ondo in line with Governor Mimiko’s promise to establish same in each senatorial district in the state.

The new facility in Ondo has the in-patient, outpatient, critical and administrative wings. The hospital has 100-bed capacity and it offers integrated services with in-built laboratory services and a pharmacy in the same building.

ONDO WILL SUSTAIN CHOLERA FREE STATUS

Ondo state government is not resting until it ensures that cholera outbreak did not get to the state. There has been cholera outbreak in Osun where Owena town is the neighbouring town.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju said the state government is ensuring that the border towns are covered. He added that health surveillance are on their toes to ensure that any case of infection is taking care of first hand and very seriously.

KNOW YOUR HIV STATUS, HEALTH COMMISSIONER ADVISES

Ondo state commissioner for health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju has called on the populace to always go for HIV screening to be able to ascertain their status. Adeyanju made this known in an interview on Monday saying HIV/AIDS should not be taken for granted.

He said the state government is doing everything possible to ensure that those that are living with the disease is living with it positively while those that are negative are been sensitized to abstain from what could lead to being infected.

MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL: ONDO READY

Mother and Child Hospital, Ondo is ready for commissioning, Governor Olusegun Mimiko has confirmed.

The hospital with the state of the art equipment, when open, will provide first class medical services for the people, the Governor said.

Mimiko spoke yesterday when he visited the facility accompanied by a notable Afenifere cum PDP chieftain, Chief Segun Adegoke and other people. He said he was impressed with the level of work at the 100 bed-space hospital located on the Laje Road Ondo and was excited at the level of work at the Trauma Center at Laje village.

Adegoke who marvelled when he got to the facility said Mimiko is a man that has vision and who is always preoccupied with what to do for his people. He said Mimiko has worked according to the blue print of somebody who planned for the job.

The PDP chieftain who said he has never seen a fantastic hospital like the Ondo Mother and Child Hospital in Nigeria.

In the Governor’s team was the Health Commissioner, Dr Dayo Adeyanju who said the hospital is an evidence of the Governor’s commitment to his resolve that nobody dies in pregnancy and premature in the state anymore.

He said work will soon begin at Ikare and Okitipupa Mother and Child Hospitals to ensure that each senatorial district has one.
