QUALITATIVE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY OUR PRIORITY


Ondo state government has re-affirmed its commitment at ensuring that the citizens of the state are given qualitative health care service delivery. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju made this known during the World Pharmacists’ Day Celebration 2012 organized by pharmacitical society of Nigeria, Ondo branch which has its theme “Safe medicines: A right of every Nigerian” which held at Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium, Igbatoro Road, Akure on September 25, 2012.


He said the state government will continue to fight to ensure the people of the state would get quality drugs adding that it will continue to monitor Pharmacists in the state.

“We will continue the monitoring, we have our Pharmaco vigilant and we have dedicated ourselves to ensure that our people do not patronise those who are quacks” Adeyanju enthused.

He said the fight against counterfeit drugs in the country needed to be fought so as to rid the country of fake drug saying even the Pharmacists find it difficult to detect fake drug.

“There is a great challenge as Pharmacy is now in the hands of the quacks” he stated.

Adeyanju commended the association for their cooperation with the government will continue to work with them. Earlier, the chairman of the association Mr. Samuel Oluwaorompin Adekola said a Pharmacist is an expert in medicines and they work to ensure that patients get the maximum benefits from their medicines.

He said they provide information to patients on how to manage their medicines to ensure optimal treatment. The Chairman commended the Commissioner for Health whom he said has shown a renewed and impatient drive for delivering sustainable and effective policies that would drive the health sector forward in the state.

The association thereafter confer as award on the Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju which he later dedicated to the governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko for the qualitative leadership he has been given in the state.
